Day 1

Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you will collect your hire car (Toyota Corolla or similar) and begin your Safari.

Your first stop will be Stonecutter’s Lodge just outside the picturesque town of Dullstroom.
Stonecutters Lodge is a trout fishing and holiday venue of exceptional quality. Travel to the Mpumalanga Highlands, just two and a half hours from Johannesburg International Airport, and stay in this 4 star-graded lodge. The lodge lies between Dullstroom and Lydenburg, in the heart of South Africa's fly and trout fishing territory. A superb chef provides guests with meals of outstanding quality.

Stonecutter’s Lodge lies in a beautiful setting between mountains and river. It offers a base for excursions to nearby game lodges and well-known tourist attractions. The climate varies from hot summer days with afternoon rain showers to warm winter days and cold nights. Stonecutter’s is an ideal stopover for the Kruger National Park and many private game lodges in the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces, and is accessed by just one kilometre of dirt road off the main Dullstroom/Lydenburg R540.

The landscape lends itself to various pursuits: A hike up the mountain is rewarded by breath-taking views from the summit plateau, and there are many pleasant walks including a stroll along the picturesque three kilometres of river. There are also numerous destinations on the farm where one can picnic or barbeque in an idyllic setting.

Bird watching is most rewarding and "twitchers" are encouraged to add to the impressive bird list!
Lydenburg, 15 minutes from the farm, offers golf, tennis and bowls. Catch and Release’ is enforced for all river fish and trout caught and taken from the dams are charged for. At Stonecutter’s, only fly-fishing equipment and methods are permitted.

2 x nights Stonecutters Lodge on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 3

After breakfast, depart the Lodge, and head for the world famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve where you will be spending the next couple of days looking for the Big 5.

Elephant Plains Game Lodge offers you comfortable and affordable style in one of the world's few remaining wilderness areas. Elephant Plains is a privately owned and operated property within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, part of the 23 000 square kilometre Greater Kruger National Park. Over many years the strict conservation policies and successful habitat management have resulted in a rich diversity of fauna and flora. Here you will come face to face with Africa’s Big Five and may be lucky enough to encounter other rarer species such as the endangered wild dogs and cheetah.

Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share with you their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush - the highlight of your visit is the thrill of discovering wildlife from the safety of open vehicles. The 4-wheel drive vehicles enable the rangers to drive off-road and provide guests with up close game viewing and great photographic opportunities. The day starts with an early morning game drive, then after breakfast a bush walk gives you the opportunity to learn about the smaller wonders of the veldt. During the afternoon game drive you will stop at a carefully selected venue to enjoy a sun-downer whilst watching the sun set over the awe-inspiring wilderness, before continuing on a night drive using spotlights to look for nocturnal animals.

Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in the dining room and evening meals are served around a fire in the Boma. Each meal is prepared with exquisite care and this combined with the open-air setting, promise an unforgettable dining experience.
