-----------------------

Your safari starts with a scheduled flight from OR Tambo (formerly Johannesburg) International Airport, to Skukuza, in the Kruger National Park. Here you will be met by your guide, and after a short game drive, will arrive at Rhino Post Camp.

Here you will be welcomed by friendly smiles before heading to your rooms to freshen up before the afternoon activity where you will experience your first opportunity to encounter some of Africa’s unique wildlife.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge, has been constructed of natural materials – stone, wood, thatch, and canvas, and is situated on the dry Mutlumuvi Riverbed. This organic camp has 8 suites, each of which including an air-conditioned bedroom with overhead fans and lounge area with stunning views of the riverbed, decked patio and outdoor shower.

The dining area is set under Tamboti trees, allows for al fresco dinners, cosy winter dining and cool lunches in the heat of summer. Both the swimming pool and lounge overlook the waterhole in the riverbed. The lounge with its extensive wine cellar, fireplace and bar provide a perfect setting for you to enjoy your favourite sundowner.

The raised walkways linking the spacious rooms and safari lodge allows wildlife to walk through underneath, undisturbed by mankind.

You will become part of a very unique way of African living in uncluttered colonial, yet modern African style. In the late afternoon you will have the time for some tea and coffee before setting out on an evening game drive. After sundowners in the bush a spotlight will be used to find the elusive nocturnal animals.

Day 2: Plains Camp

This morning you can take part in a walking safari which offers you use of the unspoiled Bushveld. Learn more about this beautiful area, and its diverse and fascinating inhabitants. It is not only the wildlife that is interesting, but also their habitat.

Have a coffee or tea in the bush before satisfying your appetite at a breakfast feast back at the Camp. After breakfast your guide will pick you up at Rhino Post in an open safari vehicle and drive you to Plain’s Camp.

Built in true pioneer tradition Plain's Camp reflects the ambience of a 19th Century naturalist's rest. Offering four African explorer-style tents which are set in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket, the camp overlooks the spectacular Timbitene plain, abundant in game best viewed from the revitalizing plunge pool. An Africana book collection and treasures from another era weave the spell of days gone by.

Guests staying at Plains Camp can explore the 12 000 hectare luxury private wilderness area in the Kruger National Park. This is the only wilderness area in the Kruger Park to be given to a private operator. Sharing a common boundary with famous Mala Mala Game Reserve for 14km allows for sightings of an abundance of game. The area is only 20 minutes from Skukuza, the heart of the Kruger National Park.

This evening you will spend around the campfire. There is a spotlight on the wooden deck which you can use to check which animals are drinking at the waterhole at night on the plains stretching out in front of you across the flickering fire.

Day 3: Plains Camp
Feel the African soil under your feet and let your senses come alive as you set out on an early morning game walk to discover the mysteries of the bush. Let your professional guide teach you how to identify animals from their spoor and which plants have medicinal qualities. You will be amazed at what the Shangaan people use elephant dung for…

Satisfy the appetite you worked up during your game walk with a scrumptious brunch. The rest of the day is yours to relax, read a book, catch up on some sleep, take a dip in the pool or simply enjoy the natural sounds of Africa

Later another game walk will have you putting your newfound knowledge to the test in tracking spoor before you return for an evening of more delicious bush cuisine around a candle lit dinner table. Keep your eye on the waterhole for the chance of amazing wildlife interaction.

Day 4: Departure Day
On the final day of your safari you can experience the thrill of an early morning game drive or walk for the last time. After brunch you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to OR Tambo International, for your onward arrangements.
