Camp Shonga

Camp Shonga is a small intimate bush retreat built in the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains, offering views over the African Bushveld. Sister Camp to Camp Shawu, it has the added emphasis of guests’ participation in select environmental awareness programmes.

Camp Shonga accommodates only 10 guests, in luxuriously equipped tents, with en-suite bathrooms and ball and claw baths, outside shower, ceiling fans, mini-bar, fireplace and private game-viewing deck with recliner chairs and umbrella.

The main Lodge area consists of a charming lounge area including a library and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is also a spacious wooden deck from which to sip drinks as the game wanders past. A splash pool makes for relief between safari activities.

Located in ‘Big 5’ territory, the ethos behind Camp Shonga is for the guides to share their vast knowledge of varying eco-systems with their guests, so ensuring an all-round safari experience.

Camp Shonga welcomes children of all ages and child-care is available upon request. In the interests of safety children under 6 years are unfortunately not allowed on game drives and only those over the age of 12 years are permitted on game walks.
