Tintswalo Safari lodge

Tintswalo Safari lodge is situated along a seasonal river bed amongst an ancient sycamore tree grove.

This is an intimate lodge with only 7 suites (6 Explorer, and a Presidential). The Explorer suites are all linked to the main lodge by raised wooden walkways, and are all authentically decorated to recall the pioneering times of the nineteenth century African explorers. The accommodation is all air-conditioned, and overlooks the seasonal river. Each suite boasts an indoor/outdoor shower, which leads off from the spacious bathroom, and opens out onto the deck. You can enjoy the use of a private plunge pool or just relax on a lounger under the African Sun.

The Baines Presidential Suite is two full suites joined by a spacious living area and open plan kitchen. Dining can be enjoyed in the privacy of the suite, or at one of the main Lodge’s venues. Children are welcome in this suite, main lodge facilities are however for adults only, unless prior arrangement has been made.

The beautifully appointed main lodge overlooks a waterhole, which is frequented by a large herd of elephant and numerous other species.

Dining at Tintswalo is an experience – meals are a blend of local and international flavours. Venues vary, from al fresco to the romantic wine cellar.

You can enjoy game viewing from an open land rover(night drives are also offered), or on foot. A walk allows you to learn far more about the fascinating and diverse world around you, including insights into the lore of the local Shangaan tribe. As the Lodge guides all have extensive knowledge of the night sky, star gazing is something to be enjoyed, through the lenses of a Meade telescope.

Birding in the Manyeleti is excellent, with a good variety of species (over 400), from raptors to kingfishers.

The surrounding community is predominantly from the Shangaan tribe. The Shangaan have largely retained their culture, being rich in folk lore and story telling. Strongly spiritual people they believe in the presence of their ancestors. You can visit the local community, not as a tourist related activity, but rather to see how life in Africa is lived.

Guests can also enjoy rejuvenating treatments at the Elan Vitál spa, which makes use of plant-based Clarins and Jessica products.

In addition to the main lodge, Tintswalo also offer the Manor house – which is an intimate homely setting with complete privacy. The luxury en-suite air-conditioned rooms over look a water hole. The Manor is a large, thatched home, which can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests – therefore excellent for families, and groups of friends. Down stairs the Manor has 3 en-suite air-conditioned twin or double bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has an optional child’s room which leads off it. Upstairs is the main double en-suite bedroom with beautiful views.

The Manor House also boasts a swimming pool, and shaded patio, along with a traditional Boma. Game activities are private, and you have your own guide and tracker. Dining at the Manor is enjoyed on the patio or in the open air Boma under the night sky. Manor house guests may enjoy the facilities of the Vital Source Spa at the main Tintswalo Safari lodge.
