Kapama Lodge Accommodation

Kapama Lodge is next to a tranquil lake, and thatched viewing decks overlooking the water ensure that guests have a relaxing place to unwind, and enjoy the surroundings.

Set along stone pathways, and amongst fever trees, are the Lodge’s twenty thatched chalets, with two honeymoon suites at the water’s edge. All rooms are spacious, air-conditioned and decorated to reflect the rich textures and colours of Africa. Luxurious twin or king size beds are a vision of white with crisp linens and pleats of mosquito netting falling into a four-poster effect. All accommodation is equipped with mini-bar, tea/ coffee station, electronic safe, telephone, and gowns.

You are guaranteed to be well nourished whilst on safari at Kapama – your starts with hot drinks and homemade rusks before the early morning game drive, upon your return to camp, there is a slap up breakfast. Then there is a buffet lunch of starters, salad and hot dishes, usually featuring one of the speciality soups made fresh each day by the sous chef.  A la carte evening meals include local and international dishes. Venues for dinner change, you might have one evening in the main dining room, the next in the outdoor Boma, or deep in the bush, under the African sky.

The Lodge boasts a comfortable lounge-cum-library area, complete with massive fireplace, antiques and artworks, making it a comfortable retreat in the evenings.

During the heat of the day, you might want to enjoy a dip in the swimming pool, or just lie on the sun deck, which overhangs the lake.

The Reserve is well positioned, as it is not too far from habitation but still deep in the bush, enabling the Lodge to offer a range of activities. At the Lodge, you can enjoy two game drives per day and an optional bush walk.

In addition, there are some optional activities, such as a romantic Sleep out, or pampering treatments at the Spa – where facilities include a gym, steam room, and four treatment rooms.

You might also enjoy an early morning Hot Air Balloon excursions – an excellent way to see the Reserve. There is also the Elephant Back safari – for which the Reserve is understandably famous. Guests can also visit the Thulumahashe Children’s Home, where abandoned children are looked after with some help from Kapama. The Lodge also supports the Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species, which specialises in rehabilitation of indigenous species. For the more active, you can enjoy a round of golf at the Hans Merensky Championship Course - where wildlife roam about the fairways.

Kapama Lodge is family oriented, and exclusive game drives are offered, in addition to the regular programme. Child-friendly food and child snack packs are provided, and dinners can  be served on your own private deck. Rangers can also facilitate specialist activities like bark rubbings, spoor casting and other exciting bush experiences. Children from 3 – 8 years can play in the sand play area with jungle jim climbing frame, chalk boards and play stations surrounded by bright murals of African animals.
