The Chestnut Country Lodge

The Chestnut Country Lodge is situated in the beautiful Kiepersol district near Hazyview, and boasts magnificent mountain and valley views. The Lodge is thus ideally sited for visits to the scenic attractions, such as Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Gods Window, the historic mining town of Pilgrims Rest as well as the various and beautiful waterfalls in and around Sabie. The renowned Kruger National Park is easily accessed via the Numbi and Phabeni Gates which are a mere 30 minute drive away.

The lodge offers a variety of accommodation – with 8 en suite standard rooms (double or twin), each of which is individually decorated. These rooms each have a patio, with beautiful vistas. There are also 4 luxury suites, which have a separate lounge, and covered patio. The bathrooms have a separate shower and bath. All of the accommodation has tea/ coffee making facilities, and ceiling fans.

The lodge also boasts The Chestnut Suite, beautifully appointed, and excellent for a romantic getaway. This is the only suite that offers a privately enclosed patio with an outside shower. Enjoy a romantic breakfast for 2 or an intimate candle-lit dinner for that special moment (by prior arrangement).

The main lodge area has a separate bar and TV lounge (with satellite channels). In addition there is a dining room, and formal lounge, with fire-place. For relaxation there is a large swimming pool, and deck area. As there are a number of bird species, this is also an excellent place to do some birding.

The three course table d'hote meal is prepared using only the freshest of herbs, vegetables in season and quality meats, fish and poultry. The Lodge also offers and excellent Continental Buffet Breakfast as well as a full English breakfast each morning.

There are a number of activities and excursions in the area, such as abseiling, birding walks, caving, cheetah project, coffee farm tours, elephant sanctuary, helicopter flights, golf, horse trails, hot air ballooning, Kruger Park Safaris, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for Endangered Wildlife, mountain biking, Panorama Tours, River Rafting, trips to neighbouring Mozambique, or Swaziland.

In addition, morning, afternoon, full-day or night-safaris can be arranged with local safari operators whose skilled game rangers can show you some of South Africa's best game viewing.

Unfortunately the lodge does not accept children under 12 years.
