Hongonyi Game Lodge

Hongonyi Game Lodge is set in a wildlife reserve, close to the Cheetah Breeding Project, and Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre near Hoedspruit, and close to the Kruger Park’s Orpen Gate. At the Lodge guests can enjoy a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Accommodation is in 14 comfortable en-suite twin bedrooms. In addition, there is a Honeymoon suite. All rooms are equipped with overhead fans and insect screens.

You can look forward to delicious home cooked meals and traditional South African braai's (barbecue) are enjoyed under the African sky – adding to the ambience of being in the bush. Breakfast is a scrumptious affair, enjoyed in a thatched dining area.

You can enjoy morning and afternoon (flowing into evening) game drives on the property, where there is the chance of seeing number antelope, and big game species, such as rhino, buffalo, cheetah, and the elusive leopard. If you just want to relax, there is a swimming pool, a viewing deck, and a garden hammock to tempt you. In addition, there are guided sunrise walking safaris, where you have the chance to learn more about the intricacies of the bush. In addition, there is abundant bird life, and an array of butterflies and dragonflies. On a night drive you may get to see bush baby, serval, civet and the fascinating aardvark.

Hongonyi is also an excellent stop-over for the self-drive enthusiast, as you can relax at the lodge, or participate in the activities on offer, or visit a number of places of interest in the region, such as the Cheetah Project, Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, the Kruger National Park, a cultural village (Shangaan), and the historic village of Pilgrim’s Rest. You might also wish to try a round of golf at the Hans Merensky course, or try river rafting, hot air ballooning, or just enjoy sightseeing in this breathtakingly beautiful area.
